    System Programming

System programmer - person, who creates programmes, that solve problems of a general computational nature - allocation and sharing of resources, access to devices, providing environments for developing, launching and executing other programs.
He is engaged in the development of operating systems, utilities, drivers for a monitor or printer, graphic "engines" for computer games, software systems that ensure the smooth operation of computer components, and sometimes databases.
Before starting to learn system programming, let's decide on the operating system. If you like C, C++, C# and have no strong desire to write cross-platform software, then the choice is obvious - Windows. For those looking at Python, JavaScript is more suitable for a simple modern Linux distribution such as Ubuntu. The first step is not to learn syntax, but to understand data structures and basic algorithms. It is recommended to start with a high-level language such as Java or C#. So you get a better understanding of the essence of programming. Having studied the basic algorithms, you can begin to study the syntax and design features of your preferred language. Any learning always happens faster on real tasks, so just come up with them. For example, write a "Cookbook" for your mother and a "Hockey standings" for your father. After creating several of your projects, making and correcting hundreds of mistakes, you finally became a system programmer

Today i have read the article called "Plastic waste is a resource that doesn't have to end up in the oceans". It tells us about ocean plastic pollution and how it can be used profitably. At least 15 tons of plastic are dumped into the ocean every minute and this figure is increasing year on year. Mankind has already generated at least 6.3 billion tons of plastic waste. The problem is that 79% of this plastic has been dumped, and huge part of it has ended up in the oceans. But we can use plastic for our own purposes so that it gets into the ocean as little as possible. For example, we can use it instead of coal as a fuel in cement kilns. Pilot project showed, that plastic emissions meet the most stringent standards for pollutant emissions. Just one such replacement would prevent plastic from entering the oceans, reduce the need for large amounts of coal, and indirectly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. I think, that in the future we will be able to find other ways to use plastic to reduce pollution to a minimum.

Unit 1. Importance of software engineering
All of these applications need software engineering, they do not all need the same software engineering techniques.

    Your score is 100%.

    2) Organizations and administration management.
Management is the skill of getting the work done from others. It is not exactly same as administration, which gefines a process of effectively administering the entire organization. The most important point that differs management from the administration is that the former is concerned with directing or guiding the operations of the organization, whereas the latter stresses on laying down the policies and establishing the objectives of the organization. Broadly speaking, management takes into account the directing and controlling functions of the organization, whereas administration is related to planning and organizing function. Management also includes planning, policy formulation, and implementation as well, thus covering the functions of administration.

    Final Test paper -1
    4 / 4

    Your score is 100%.
    You have completed the exercise.

This text is about one study that showed that virtual reality could be a very useful tool for urban planners, allowing them to test the impact of various interventions virtually. According to the results, it is suggested that increasing the amount of green vegetation and colorful designs in urban environments could enhance the well-being of city dwellers, putting a new spin on the term "concrete jungle.”.
But as for their future plans the researchers hope to make the VR experience even more immersive to obtain the most accurate results.

A high-level language (HLL) is a programming language such as C, FORTRAN, or Pascal that enables a programmer to write programs that are more or less independent of a particular type of computer. Such languages are considered high-level because they are closer to human languages and further from machine languages. In computer science, a high-level programming language is a programming language with strong abstraction from the details of the computer. In contrast to low-level programming languages, it may use natural language elements, be easier to use, or may automate (or even hide entirely) significant areas of computing systems, making the process of developing a program simpler and more understandable than when using a lower-level language. The amount of abstraction provided defines how "high-level" a programming language is.

When comparing generic software and custom software, there are a lot of minor differences. Custom Development has a higher cost and less support but has a narrower functionality. Generic software looks like a better choice at first glance because it is less expensive, more user friendly and has a tighter control during its development and also has more functionality but you should always evaluate the needs and what the task is before you. After all, the software architecture for generic software must be scalable, which custom software may not create because it is designed to solve a specific problem.

A system development life cycle is essentially a project management model. System development life cycles are typically used when developing IT projects.
It defines different stages that are necessary to bring a project from its initial idea or conception all the way to deployment and later maintenance.
There are seven primary stages of the modern system development life cycle.
    Planning Stage Stage
    Requirements Analysis Stage
    Design and Prototyping Stage
    Software Development Stage
    Software Testing Stage
    Implementation and Integration Stage
    Operations and Maintenance Stage
Ultimately, any development team in both the IT and other industries can benefit from implementing system development life cycles into their projects.

Today I've read the article "Invention uses machine-learned human emotions to 'drive' autonomous vehicles". It talks about a new approach that aims to solve the problem of the strong fear of people (in particular, Americans) of robotic technologies for automatic control of a car. It is based on the use of machine learning to understand human emotions for the most comfortable driving experience in a "co-driving" mode. For a person interested in machine learning who also used Github Copilot and had very positive opinion on such co-working mod with an AI, this idea seemed interesting to me, I will track if it gets any further development.

    Phrases of the day:
    1) above the average -- And the level of their quality is much above the average.
    2) invention relates to -- The invention relates to anti-dazzle devices for both polarized and non-polarized radiation.
    3) information management -- Better information management and analysis benefits at-risk and affected populations.

    + Exam topic
    11. History of computer software.
Within the framework of the DevOps transition, the following 4 stages of software development are distinguished: 1) The initial stage from the advent of computers as such until about 1985 is characterized by the fact that programs are developed for themselves. 2) Software creation is starting to take shape as a business line. This becomes possible because there are more users of the programs and it is possible to build programs for sale. 3) IT business moves to the Internet, but browsers still work so-so. 4) There is practically no installed software left, and a little of the existing one is updated via the Internet. The Internet is used everywhere, social networks and entertainment software that live exclusively on the Internet are becoming popular. You can implement complex dynamic functionality of interfaces directly in the browser - and we are moving there.

The article is made in the form of answers to questions, and while asking complex questions, the article are not even trying to give specific answers to them or provide some ideas in that area. Therefore, I do not find this article interesting.

    Phrases of the day:
    1) common problem -- A common problem is the tendency for most support services to be supply-driven.
    2) according to -- We develop functionality according to the requirements and architecture or according to detailed design.
    3) nonetheless -- They may nonetheless contact their friends and family by telephone.

    + Exam topic
    5. Antivirus programs
Antivirus programs are programs that protect your computer from viruses, trojan horses and other malware. They are often considered as simple databases of known malware, but truth is that there is real arms race between virus creators and antivirus creators. In past, antiviruses mostly used some signatures of files to find known malwares, so that they managed to start embedding in the code of other applications. And now, moder antiviruses are using Machine Learning to find any traces of computer threats. And of course, for every action there is a reaction... The battle continues.

As someone intent on building giant robots, I find this post useful to read, and I hope that area of using 3D printers with metals will continue developing.

    Phrases of the day:
    1) complex mixture -- The taste is often experienced as a complex mixture of both temperature and texture.
    2) following example -- In the following example, graph G and graph H are homeomorphic.
    3) relatively low -- For chemicals with relatively low lipid solubility such as HCH, elimination process is faster and so potential for biomagnification decreases.

    Exam topic:
    12. Trusted operating systems
The idea of trusted operating system is that it provides enough support for multilevel security to meet a particular set of government requirements. That criterias are a common work of US, Canada and some European countries. You need some time to ensure that your operating system is trusted, so such systems are not the newest, you'll see there something like Apple Mac OS X 10.6 or Microsoft Windows 7, not something you'll use for your PC, but perfect for the area of government security. Moveover, you'll sometimes see even older OS, for example Defence Department of the United States uses special version of Windows XP with regular security fixes.

Dmitry Zakharchenko AI-213 Exam Topic (Trusted operating systems)/ Tsapenko (Sunday, 19 June 2022 17:18)

Today I have read the article:Trusted operating systems. What is Trusted operating systems? We have different standards organizations that decide and approve certain standards. Groups like ISO are organizations whom release standards for machines, operation procedures, devices and software systems. Similarly, there is a set of standards that are made by government bodies to describe the best security standard for a operating system. One of them is the Common Criteria which is a list of requirements that an operating system must have in order to be fit to be marked as Trusted Operating System. There is no perfect definition for a trusted operating system other than that it is an operating system that meet these standards. These standards may also vary from country to country. Some countries may due to political or technical reasons consider the standards prescribed by another group to be insecure and may have their own standards to call an OS tursted.

Dmitry Zakharchenko AI-213 Exam Topic (History of computer software)/ Tsapenko (Sunday, 19 June 2022 17:08)

Today I have read the article: History of computer software. Software is the component in a computer system that permits the hardware to perform the various functions that a computer system is capable of doing and the history of it and its development can be traced to the early nineteenth century. All computer systems are designed to utilize the "stored program concept" as first developed by Charles Babbage in the 1850s. The concept was lost until the mid-1940s, when modern computers made their appearance. Today, because of the complex and myriad tasks that a computer system can perform, there has been a differentiation of types of software. There is software designed to perform specific business applications. There is software that controls the overall operation of a computer system. And there is software that is designed to carry out specialized tasks. Regardless of types, software is the most critical component of any computer system. Without it, all one has is a collection of circuits, transistors, and silicone chips.

Dmitry Zakharchenko AI-213 Exam Topic (History of programming)/ Tsapenko (Sunday, 19 June 2022 17:03)

Today I have read the article: History of programming. Programming began in 1822 with Charles Babbage's invention of the difference engine. This was in fact the first mechanical computer ever, it could perform simple calculations and executed these tasks by changing gears for different operations. In 1945, John Von Neumann who worked for the Institute for Advanced Study devised two important concepts that helped sculpt the future of computer programming. In 1957, the world first got a taste of a major programming language in the form of FORTRAN. This language was designed at IBM for scientific calculations and although it did that well, it was not designed to handle input and output from users, which was what most people and companies expected.

Dmitry Zakharchenko AI-213 Exam Topic (Device drivers)/ Tsapenko (Sunday, 19 June 2022 16:55)

Today I have read the exam topic:Device drivers. Device drivers are computer applications that facilitate the interaction between userprograms and hardware devices. Drivers communicate with hardware components via acomputer communications bus or computer subsystems that attach hardware devices. A userapplication initiates a query into the driver, which in turn passes the query to the attachedcomponent in a synchronized format. Once the hardware responds with data, the driver repliesthe user program with the fetched data.Drivers play a crucial role in Linux operating systems. User applications can runeffectively on both higher levels and on lower levels.

Dmitry Zakharchenko AI-213 Exam Topic (The development of Windows versions )/ Tsapenko (Sunday, 19 June 2022 16:38)

Today I have read the exam topic:The development of Windows versions. The journey for Windows began on November 10, 1983, with the release of Microsoft windows Beta 1.0, which was followed by Windows 2.0 and then Windows 3.0 in May 1990. The above versions allowed Windows programmers to overcome 2 problems. A GUI Interface was available that simplified computer usage greatly and allowed a user to multitask. However, they still faced a few challenges. These challenges were in the minds of the programmers as they worked on the next version, Windows NT which was released in July 1993. This software was designed to allow full exploitation of the microprocessors while retaining the simple, object-oriented user interface the previous versions had. Another key focus was on providing simple and transparent access to network services. Windows 3.1 had been released in 1992 and included minor improvements to Windows 3.0. Thus, in July 2003, Windows NT 3.1 was introduced. The next version that Microsoft worked on was called Chicago. However, Chicago itself was never released. The next version came in the year 2000 and was known as Windows 2000. It was available in six editions. Different versions and was based on the previous NT technology. Then Microsoft created many versions which we know:Vista,Windows 7 and Windows 10.

Dmitry Zakharchenko AI-213 (The importance of system software for computer operation.)/ Tsapenko (Sunday, 19 June 2022 15:57)

Today i have read the exam topic:The importance of system software for computer operation. While just about everyone uses a computer in some way, shape or form on a daily basis, there are relatively few people who understand how vitally important computer software is to the usefulness and functionality of even simple devices. For instance, the accounting package might contain a bookkeeping program, an audit program, a data base management program, a tax preparation program, a time tracking and billing program or any number of other related programs. In many cases each of these kinds of accounting programs could stand alone, but they become much more powerful when they operate together as a complete package.

Today I have read the article: “Sending out bacteria-carrying mosquitos to protect people from dengue“. The authors of Chaos In analyzing the previous most common diseases in the world, found that once they increase immunity in the most vulnerable geographic regions, this directly affects the ranking of other areas, which is a signal that they should focus resources to strengthen immunity in certain regions. The results of this study will be useful against many diseases such as fever, yellow fever, Zika virus, dengue. They hope that the method developed to increase immunity from the disease can be extrapolated to combat other vector-borne diseases.

Today i have read the article: “Liberals and conservatives have different views on equity, but share 'protestant work ethic”. During a political debate in the United States of America, researchers in the journal social psychological and personality science, interested in the question of the moral foundations of the adult generation, studied a sample of 1,500 American adults. Participants fill out a questionnaire about moral foundations assessed by looking at various moral principles. Although the experiment is still not finished, the researchers have already made some conclusions and linked it to the political ideology of people. The researchers believe that if they can't understand how the principles operate in cultural contexts outside of the United States of America, they will have a much better idea of how people understand our moral assessments of justice and order.

Today i have read the article: “Positive effects of shading and watering on early seedling survival after topsoil translocation in karst region”. Tropical botanical garden scientists in China from the Chinese Academy of Sciences studied how shading and watering affect the survival and growth of seedlings and how different species react to this. After conducting 90 experiments on different sites measuring 4 m by 4 m, they found that shading and high planting density reduced species diversity. After the first experiment of this kind, they suggested that the composition should be recommended in the first 2-3 years after changing the top one's post only by 45% in order to increase the adaptability of species and accelerate the creation of such forests.

Today i have read the article: "Researchers outline the current state of potassium-ion battery technology”. At the moment, almost all electronics use lithium-ion batteries, they have good reviews, but the lithium reserves on the planet are declining. Because of this, scientists have to find analogues of lithium-ion batteries. A trio of researchers with the University of Wollongong, in Australia, has published an outline of the current state of potassium-ion battery technology. In their article, they cited 5 disadvantages of a potential replacement for lithium batteries. They hope that with the help of science, in the next 20 years, humanity will be able to complete a more environmentally friendly replacement for the current generation of batteries that are not environmentally friendly and difficult to manufacture.

Today i have read the article: "Machine learning uncovers missing information about ethnicity and Aboriginal status in population health data: study". The World Health Organization recognizes ethnicity and indigenous peoples as determinants of health. However, they are not mentioned in large databases that track acute and chronic diseases. Therefore, researchers cannot conclude whether certain ethnic groups have higher incidence rates. They created a machine learning system to analyze the names and geographic locations of those surveyed in the 1901 census. They expects to learn more from existing records without having to conduct time-consuming population surveys. I think this method can replace population surveys.
